An update at long last! I promise my sketchbook is brimming with ideas for new comics, some so pure and beautiful that the reader may very well be struck blind by looking directly at them. It’s just a matter of drawing finished versions and putting them online.
It’s times like these – of crippling shame and embarrassment – that I like to read comics like Faraday the Blob, which reminds me that much more qualified cartoonists also fall behind in updates.
Today was laundry day and as I sat in the laundromat waiting for my jeans to dry I opened up the sketchbook and came up with a bunch of ideas for new comics. Hopefully this means the resumption of regular updates! It also means I haven’t forgotten how to be funny, so that’s a load off.
Attempting to draw one of nature’s most elegant and beautiful creatures in various ugly forms is a strange and surprisingly amusing venture.
Two comics in one week! I told you I’d get back on schedule once I’d overcome the psychic trauma of all the packing, moving, driving, resettling. This portends great things.
Hi everyone. Another long delay, but at long last I’m reasonably settled and resuming life here in Lawrence. No more packing, no more moving, no more “vacations” prompted by temporary homelessness. Tomorrow I begin my studies in creative writing at KU. It’s going to a be a busy semester, but now that I’ve got an apartment put together and a place to draw I’m excited to get the comic back into some kind of regular publishing schedule.
So the time to get excited is now.
Do it.
Well, vacation is over. Back to the comics. Life is hard work sometimes.
This was a fun comic to draw. Not particularly exciting in the visuals department, but I liked making a more realistic drawing with the joke underplayed. Well, as underplayed as a fart joke can get. Also, I’m pretty sure this is only my second instance of potty humor in almost five months of drawing the strip. Give it time.
As promised, another post dealing with snails. For context, read the original snail strip.
In another news, my apologies for the long delays between posts these days. I’ve been working on an external comic project, and that’s been eating up a lot of my time. I’m shooting to have it done by the end of summer, and I’ll start posting segments and samples as I get closer to finishing, so check back here for updates in the coming weeks.
